Dunk is fun to explore, and everything you might want is within walking distance:
Walk to Coconut Beach - a great place for beachcombing, snorkling, and fishing.
Climb Mt. Kootaloo and take in the spectacular views of the Family Islands and the mainland.
Walk over to Mungum Gnackum, the small island just offshore by our property, at low tide and explore Stingray Reef.
Rent a boat from the resort and explore beautiful Purtaboi, another small island and bird sanctuary in Brammo Bay (Brammo means butterfly).
Walk the 10 kms of National Park walking tracks - many great places to observe birds, to look at ferns and trees.
Sit out at night and listen to the mysterious sounds of the jungle.
Enjoy the P&O resort - offering restaurants and bars, watersports, golf, tennis, and horse riding.
Bird watchers - participate in our study and record the birds you see in the hideaway visitors' log book. Dunk Island is rich in bird life, and Banfield cataloged 129 species of birds which he observed in the period 1897 to 1906 when he first moved to Dunk.
Explore the mangroves in front of our property at our own "Port Arthur". The ecology of mangroves is exciting - watch the mud skippers, the little fish that has both lungs and gills and which can breathe on land or under water.
We invite you to e-mail our naturalist, Angas Hopkins (AngasH@calm.wa.gov.au).
